Frontline 的疑惑 - 1st!
由於自己對於Frontline有很多不解，擔心旺旺會用了些不安全的藥，故此我就種種問題寫了幾個e-mail給Frontline 和 Heartgard的生產商Merial Ltd.公司，想在此同大家分享一些資料，如大家不嫌麻，也可以看以下我和Merial Ltd. 及SKYLITE LTD (Frontline 和 Heartgard在HK的代理)的e-mail，這些e-mail的次序是由最早一張至最近一張。
總括而言:
1. Frontline 和 Heartgard在港有”藥劑業及毒藥管理局”的註冊編號。在盒上會貼有一張貼紙，印有在港的註冊編號，編號以HK-xxxxxx 五/六個數字，或有小數是以Z字母代HK作開首英文字。貼紙上亦印有簡單的中文使用說明。
2. 在港註冊的Frontline 和 Heartgard只會透過SKYLITE LTD給予指定的獸醫診所售賣。
3. SKYLITE LTD不會將Frontline 或 Heartgard賣給寵物店。
4. SKYLITE LTD給予獸醫診所售賣的Frontline只有三支裝。

Dear Sir,
I am a dog owner live in Hong Kong. I would like to ask how to prevent buying counterfeit Merial product in my city. Please forward to responsible division if this mail is sent to wrong contact point. Thank you!
For many veterinarians in Hong Kong buy Frontline and Heartgard from different countries such as UK, Australia, etc. So, various packages of Merial’s product are available in different clinic. Moreover, I observe many pet shops here could buy Merial’s product too. Because of range of fake products spread in the area such as DVD, bag, shirt, dog food, human foods (even soya sauce or egg), etc. I would like to know how can I distinguish counterfeit product (if I think/suspect it may be) or product really come from Merial? Is Frontline, Heartgard have any security feature or marking like some pet food package, so we could recognize it out. Or Merial could provide a veterinarian, licensing partner or authorize partner list in your web-site for pet owner in Hong Kong. Then we could check by ourselves for make sure product is truly come from Merial.
A dog owner anxious for my dog health and hope to receive your reply.

Dear Mr. Ng,
Sorry for taking so long to answer your inquiry!
So Far no fake/counterfeit Frontline and Heartgard were discovered in
HK! All Frontline and Heartgard products seen in HK, despite most of
them import through legitimate channel via our local exclusive
distributor, there are some small quantity that were smuggled into HK
through parallel import channels, like from the UK and Australia.
However, they are still genuine Merial's product even though their
packaging were not registered in HK.
We are doing our best to stop such parallel import but parallel
importers, often veterinarians or one-man company, is hard to
identify and locate. This makes our work difficult.
However, we trust that most registered vet clinics are selling
authorised Frontline and Heartgard which imported legally. Below I
attach our HK exclusive distributor tel no. that could advise you
where is the nearest clinic to your home that sell authorised
Frontline and Heartgard.

Thanks for your reply.
Based on your reply, is any marking or number on packaging so I know the product is registered in HK? Furthermore, any marking on packaging so I could recognize it is truly from Merial (despite where the manufactured country is)? I hope I need not to use this tool to distinguish counterfeit product in future. But people live in Asia, I think this knowledge could help whenever it is need.
Do Merial only sell your product to registered vet or you would sell to other authorize partner too (such as breeder)? Those pet shop could sell your product is the most concern to me. Because of the concern, I ask questions above.
Could you provide Mr. Carl Ko e-mail address to me? I would like to know the list of authorize selling point in HK. So I could buy Frontline/Heartgard wherever the location it is convenient to me. I would be glad if you could send this list to me if you have. Besides, Could I share this information to my friends who have dog. I know it is the information they want to know too.

Sorry about the delay! This mail has been cc to Mr. Ko, manager of
our HK distributor.
His e-mail is carlko@hkupll.com He can give you more detail regarding
the packaging detail as well as clinics to purchase our product!
As for Merial, all of our product are marketed through professional
channel only! It is against Merial's policy to sell product to non-
vet channel, however we are unable to control the non-vet channel to
obtain our product! For your concern, I recommended only get your
Heartgard and Frontline plus from legitimate registered vet clinic.
This will not only ensure you get official authorized imported
product also ensure your beloved pets get adequate professional
attention.
Mr. Ko should be able to provide you with more detail regarding
clinics to purchase our product!
